How To Connect A Radio Controller To A Drone Simulator
A beginner-friendly checklist for connecting a radio controller to PC or mobile simulator practice.
Step 1: Charge Your Controller
Before connecting anything, make sure the controller has enough battery. If your controller supports USB-C charging, charge it fully before the first setup session.
A low battery can create confusion during setup because the controller may disconnect or behave unexpectedly.
- Charge the battery fully.
- Use a good quality USB-C cable.
- Power on and check LED indicators.
Step 2: Connect To PC Or Mobile
For PC, connect the controller with USB-C and open your simulator. For mobile, you may need OTG support depending on your phone and simulator app.
After connection, check whether the simulator detects the controller as an input device.
- PC: use direct USB-C cable.
- Android: use OTG adapter if needed.
- Confirm that the device detects the controller.
Step 3: Calibrate Before Flying
Calibration is one of the most important steps. It tells the simulator how your throttle, yaw, pitch and roll sticks move. Skipping calibration can make the drone feel uncontrollable.
After calibration, start with a beginner map and practice slow control before trying speed or freestyle.
- Calibrate all sticks.
- Check channel direction.
- Start with slow practice.
